Booking a fishing excursion in a new area can be a daunting task. There are numerous websites extolling the virtues of the guide or outfitter and filled with images of happy customers with large fish, but can you trust them?

Alberta does not legally require guides or outfitters to be licensed and as such the industry is uncontrolled by government. Unfortunately it costs very little to put up a website and offer guiding services with little to no experience, safety equipment or first aid training. Make sure you don't end up with the wrong guide!
